Well this is very confusing. I can totally appreciate how the 'instructions' after "where" convert into the given string. (Indeed, I think there might be a line break missing in the final line.)
However, applying the same logic to the first set of instructions yields nothing more than gobbledygook. Perhaps I need a different tree?

Okey doke. Shame I don't know where to find it!
My first instinct was to look at the layout of my computer keyboard, but that doesn't lend itself to the sorts of moves that are so clear in the second half of the puzzle. Nudge please?

Bother, now I'm really confused. Is the goal to work out the layout of the 'tree', if that's the right word, which forms a sentence using the first set of instructions? If someone could help me kick myself in the shin, that would be terrific.
